This project serves Clearfield and Jefferson Counties.

What is domestic violence?
It is the occurrence of one or more of the following acts between family or household members, sexual or intimate partners, or persons who share biological parenthood:
  • Attempting to cause or intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly causing bodily injury, rape, spousal sexual assault, or involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with/without a deadly weapon
  • Placing another person in resonable fear of imminent serious bodily injury
  • The infliction of false imprisonment
  • Physically or sexually abusing minor children
  • Knowingly engaging in a course of conduct or repeatedly committing acts toward another person, including following the person without proper authority, which places the person in reasonable fear of bodily injury
Does it happen often?
In Clearfield and Jefferson Counties, Crossroads serves over 1,200 victims each year. That is more than three victims per day just in our area. In Pennsylvania, over 100 murders are documented as domestic violence each year. Advocates, who have worked with victims prior to their deaths, claim twice as many domestic violence victim deaths are not counted due to liability, family concerns, or because they remain unsolved or are ruled as suspicious, accidental, suicide, or overdose.
