Senior Corps of PA Celebrates Martin Luther King Day by Launching Website for Volunteer Opportunities
|
Senior Corps of Pennsylvania, whose mission is to channel the skills, knowledge, talent and energy of Pennsylvanian’s age 55 and older into volunteer roles, is proud to support the national celebration of Martin Luther King Day of Service by launching its statewide website – www.seniorcorpsofpa.org - to help the seniors of the Commonwealth connect to volunteer opportunities in their communities.
“We encourage Pennsylvania’s experienced citizens to visit our website and explore volunteer opportunities in their local community”, said Janeen Love, President of Senior Corps of PA Directors Association. “Our goal in launching this website is to provide a point of entrance to our network of 47 local Senior Corps Projects with over 21,000 active volunteers”, Love continued. “Our statewide website is just one more tool of Senior Corps of PA which strives to be the most comprehensive source of support and opportunities for Pennsylvanian’s age 55 and older seeking to make lasting, profound contributions to their communities”.
Each of us can contribute to strengthening our own communities and make service part of our daily lives. Visit www.seniorcorpsofpa.org and become part of our nation’s renewal and recovery.
The Martin Luther King Day of Service which takes place each year on the third Monday in January is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service – a “day on, not a day off.” The Martin Luther King Day of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, addresses social problems, and moves us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a “Beloved Community.”
