Parents
and child care providers form an important partnership in healthy
development of children.
CCIS staff will provide information
on a variety of topics to anyone interested in opening a child care facility
or expanding a current program.
CCIS staff will make referrals
to other programs that may provide resources and technical assistance to
someone interested in opening a child care facility.
There are different types of child
care facilities regulated by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.
Family Day Care Home:
A state
registered family residence with one caregiver providing care for up to six children not related to the caregiver.
Group Daycare Home:
A state
certified facility providing care for up to twelve children.
Day Care Center:
A state certified facility
providing care for seven or more children.
Relative/Neighbor
Care:
A person who cares
for three or fewer children who are not related to the caregiver at any one time.
